Oversees compliance of the environmental requirements for the Oroville Field Division. Environmental Section Supervision. Provides overall supervision, direction, guidance, and general control of the License Coordination Branch, Environmental Section. Also provides program control, environmental guidance, correspondence, and reporting. Monitors necessary budgets and contracts, provides environmental policy and practical guidance for the License Coordination Branch Manager, reviews and prepares final reports and highly sensitive correspondence on environmental issues of major importance to the Department.

Employee is required to successfully complete all safety training related to the functions of the job. Must possess a valid California Driver's License, as travel will be required. Strength and ability to move up to 50 pounds. Ability to enter and exit vehicles, ascend/descend lake embankments, walk over rough terrain, bend, and stoop. Incumbent will be required to operate automotive vehicles on public roadways, travel to remote areas is sometimes necessary to perform the requirements of this position. The ability to communicate effectively with public groups is required.

Knowledge and understanding of California and Federal environmental regulatory and resource management laws, regulations, plans, programs, environmental permits, and policies relating to their program area; resource management practices and techniques; and chemical substances and waste materials and their interactions with and effects on public health and the environment. In addition to all of the above, incumbent must have knowledge of health and environment-related priorities of legislative and administrative branches of California and Federal government; health and environmental solutions and initiatives being pursued by other states, local agencies, and the Federal government; and performance management strategies as well as the ability to manage lead or administer program resources. Knowledge of basic principles of ecology, biology, botany, and geology is desirable. Must be able to make decisions regarding program milestones; lead meetings with public stakeholders, provide a forum for the resolution of conflicts or disputes among agencies and stakeholders; develop innovative solutions to difficult human health, agricultural productivity, and environmental management problems; and evaluate program performance and achievements.
