Position Overview:

Are you passionate about creating exceptional user experiences through front-end development? We're seeking a Staff Front End Software Engineer to lead the development of high-quality, scalable UI/UX features primarily using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. In this role, you'll make key architectural decisions to align with our strategic product goals and take ownership of multiple front-end product features from end to end. Additionally, you'll play a critical role in maintaining product features, including handling on-call escalations, triaging issues, and ensuring prompt resolution.

We're looking for candidates with extensive experience in front-end development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, a proven track record of leading and delivering high-quality front-end features, a strong understanding of architectural design patterns and scalability principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Lead delivery of the entire application development lifecycle of product features, including coding, debugging, architecture strategy, and product improvements
  • Lead code/design reviews to ensure smooth project execution and accurate planning
  • Ensure proper level of testing coverage across features and functions with a test first mindset
  • Collaborates across engineering, product, and design to gather and address technical and design requirements
  • Build architecture design, influence product roadmap, and take ownership and responsibility over new projects
  • Liaise with developers, designers, and product managers to identify new areas for improving product features
  • Mindset of learning and curiosity, including staying up to date with new technologies to constantly innovate our front-end platform
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Provide documentation, coaching, training, and support to internal teams where needed
  • Create and enhance development tools and test coverage to improve the overall efficiency of our front-end platform
  • Plan and lead complicated technical projects that work with several teams within the company
  • Accountable for overall application health and monitoring of our platform including escalating to proactively address customer facing issues
  • Own, troubleshoot, and drive client issues to resolution, including new and existing features
  • Participate in on-call rotation as part of a defined support structure
  • Conduct interviews with potential candidates
  • Optimize user experiences by considering performance, accessibility, and responsiveness in the development process

Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience in software development or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, CS, physics, math, statistics, or another related field or equivalent work experience
  • Strong programming skills in front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript), with experience as a front-end developer
  • Strong programming skills in modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)
  • In-depth understanding of the entire front-end feature development process (design, development, deployment, maintenance, and strategy)
  • Strong experience working with CI/CD frameworks
  • Strong experience with front-end A-B testing, test-driven development, and/or automation
  • Experience implementing common architectural design patterns, processes, and workflows
  • Experience designing and/or building products in micro frontend frameworks
  • Experience creating and/or analyzing metrics for micro frontend frameworks
  • Collaborative problem solving attitude and willing to take a variety of approaches
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience providing technical input
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, design and customers to build and maintain quality product features
  • Analytical and time management skills, with the ability to deliver value independently
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation

Desired Skills:

  • Master's degree in engineering, technology or related field
  • Experience designing and building a product with dynamic configuration and layout capabilities
  • Experience migrating from monolithic front-end to micro frontend architecture
  • Experience migrating from one JavaScript framework to another
  • Experience migrating from Vue 2 to Vue 3
  • Experience with Gitlab
