Akkodis is seeking a Senior Azure Database Performance Engineer for a Contract with a client in Burlington, MA. You will drive optimization and high availability of MSSQL databases across hosted and Azure environments, ensuring adherence to technical standards and operational procedures.
Rate Range: $45/hour to $53/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Senior Azure Database Performance Engineer job responsibilities include:
Ensure availability, optimization, and performance tuning of MSSQL databases (2016–2022) across hosted and Azure environments, including IaaS SQL VMs.
Monitor and analyze database performance, queries, and procedures; apply continuous tuning using tools like SolarWinds, Query Store, and Extended Events.
Collaborate with application teams and stakeholders to identify and resolve MSSQL-related issues, ensuring adherence to technical standards and operational procedures.
Design and implement high-availability, disaster recovery, replication, and security strategies for both on-prem and cloud environments.
Provide technical support and guidance to development teams, reviewing design and code for integrity, security, and performance compliance.
Lead incident resolution and root-cause analysis, driving corrective and preventive actions while maintaining database reliability and scalability.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
6–8 years of hands-on experience managing large MSSQL databases (2016–2022) in production environments, with at least 2 years in Azure.
Proven expertise in Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and advanced performance tuning using tools like SolarWinds, Query Store, and Extended Events.
Strong knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, replication, encryption, and security best practices in both hosted and cloud environments.
