Role Description:

We are actively hiring a Network Security Engineer to join a long-term government project in Annapolis, MD. This is a 5-year contract role for a skilled security professional with extensive experience in Palo Alto, Cisco security technologies, and cloud-based networking. Ideal candidates must hold active industry certifications and demonstrate deep knowledge of enterprise network security.

 

You’ll be responsible for (Responsibilities):

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in IT-related field (Minimum)
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field (Preferred)

Active Certifications Required:

  • PCNSE (Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer)
  • CCNP (Enterprise or Security)
  • PCCSE (Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer)
  • CCIE (Enterprise Infrastructure or Security)

Experience Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT networking and network security
  • 5+ years with Palo Alto Networks (NGFW, IDS/IPS, VPN, DLP, TLS/SSL Inspection)
  • 4+ years in Cisco switching, routing, and wireless
  • 3+ years with A10 load balancing and reverse proxy
  • 2+ years with Network Access Control: Cisco ISE, FreeRadius, ACLs

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Multifactor authentication (Microsoft)
  • Cloud security (AWS, Azure)
  • Authentication standards (802.1x)
  • Routing protocols: EIGRP, OSPF, BGP
  • PKI and certificate management
  • Experience with Nessus, NMAP, Wireshark
  • Panorama and SolarWinds centralized management
  • Windows/Linux/Unix OS troubleshooting

IMPORTANT:
All candidates must be able to submit proof of degrees and active certifications. Local candidates are strongly preferred due to onsite or hybrid work expectations.
