Midsouth Steel seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will operate and maintain Voortman machinery, which is crucial for structural steel fabrication and processing. This role calls for an individual with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety while adhering to industry best practices. As an operator of our Vortman machine, you will contribute to the successful completion of various projects by ensuring the efficiency and precision of all cutting and drilling operations. You will work closely with engineers and project managers to understand specifications and machinery requirements, ensuring that the production process aligns with project timelines. Your expertise will not only aid in machine operation but also in troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance to minimize downtime. Position will train on 1st shift 5:00am to 3:30pm and eventually move to 2nd shift 3:30pm-1:00am

Responsibilities

• Operate Voortman machinery for steel fabrication and processing tasks.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to understand project specifications.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on Voortman equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure precise cutting and drilling as required.
• Collaborate with project managers and team members to meet production deadlines and standards.
• Troubleshoot and rectify operational issues with Voortman machinery in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and industry regulations.

Requirements

• Proven experience operating Voortman machinery or similar CNC equipment.
• Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes and techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in construction.
• Proficient in basic computer skills and familiarity with machine control software.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
