About the Job:
Looking for a friendly, reliable, flexible, customer-service-minded person, with strong experience as a restaurant server. The role is primarily in our Evanston restaurant, with food truck and catering event shifts possible. The restaurant is counter service and mostly to go right now, we will transition to full service when our expanded restaurant opens this summer. Evening and weekend availability is required. Looking for year-round team member, not just for the summer.

• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and co-workers at all times.
• Prepare and open patio/restaurant space for lunch service and/or close space after dinner service.
• Take customer orders in person and over the phone in Toast POS, double-check orders from the kitchen before giving them to customers.
• Communicate and coordinate with customers, kitchen, and colleagues effectively.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and provide professional customer support.
• Acknowledge and resolve any customer issues and complaints.
• Keep up with the side work, including cleaning tables and filling sauce cups.
• Gain knowledge of all our products and services with the ability to answer questions accurately.
• Provide customer and other feedback to the Soul & Smoke team.
• Other tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stay calm and respectful under stress, and if customers are upset.
• Able to walk/stand for most of the shift, and to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable using computer and POS system.
• Experience working with customer support.
• Quick problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to multitask and keep organized.
• Ability to work in a team with different personalities.
• Prior food experience and knowledge required.
• A driver's license is preferred.
• Evening and weekend availability.
• Valid food handler and BASSET alcohol service certificates required within 30 days of starting employment.

Job Details:

• JOB TYPE: Part-time or full-time, hourly position.
• PAY: $20-22+ per hour, which includes pooled revenue share of $4-6 per hour, base hourly rate starting at $17.
• BENEFITS: Staff meals, plus dining and catering discounts. Accrued paid leave and sick leave.
