Old Redford Academy is hiring a Freshman Basketball Coach.

Old Redford Academy has new leadership, new direction and a new commitment to academic excellence. The academy is a tuition free, Pre-K to 12th grade academy that offers highly qualified teachers, free transportation, one-to-one student technology, an expansive athletic program, and a rigorous curriculum that is both standards based and culturally responsive.

We are looking for dedicated staff that will allow all students to contribute to classroom learning by sharing and gaining knowledge from each other. The Old Redford Academy’s philosophy is based on early work of Dr. Maria Montessori Method of Teaching which has a focus on educating “the whole child”. Job Summary

• We are seeking a passionate Freshman Basketball Coach to join our team. The Freshman Basketball Coach will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising all aspects of the wrestling position. This position requires a passion for basketball and mentorship, as well as a commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the course. The coach will help foster a positive team culture and encourage academic success as well.

• Responsibilities

• Develop and implement training plans tailored to the skill levels and goals of individual athletes.

• Conduct regular practices focused on improving endurance, technique, and overall performance.

• Teach athletes about Wrestling strategies.

• Organize and supervise team practices, competitions, and events in accordance with state regulations.

• Coordinate transportation for away meets and manage logistics related to team events.

• Maintain communication with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedule changes, team policies, and athlete progress.

• Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes teamwork and sportsmanship.

• Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of athletes, providing support and guidance as needed.

• Encourage academic success and personal growth among student-athletes.

• Promote the basketball program within the school to attract new athletes.

• Facilitate team-building activities and events to enhance team camaraderie.

• Ensure that all practices and competitions adhere to safety standards and regulations.

• Complete necessary paperwork and maintain records as required by the school and state athletic association.

• Previous coaching experience or competitive experience in wrestling is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of basketball and athletic development.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
