Assistant Golf Course Superintendent-in-Training
Golf course in Pine Hill, New Jersey is looking for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent-in-Training.
Position Overview:
Candidates will have the opportunity to be a part of a golf operation that is continuously evolving with various construction projects taking place each year. AITs will work closely with the Superintendent, Senior Assistant, and other assistants to direct, and monitor all maintenance aspects of the golf course. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, reliable, and eager to learn. Candidates must also have the willingness to work the hours required to uphold the high standards of Pine Valley Golf Club, as well as have a strong eye for detail with a desire to advance in the turf maintenance industry. The selected candidate will also be responsible for the proper handling, mixing, application of pesticides and fertilizers, and accurate recordkeeping. They will provide supervision and directly participate in the daily maintenance of the golf course.
Requirements:
Two or four-year degree/certificate in agronomy and/or soil science, or currently enrolled in an online program.
Must be able to obtain a New Jersey Pesticide license in a timely manner.
Prior experience working on a golf course.
A team player who is capable of working with other assistants and crew members.
A detail-oriented individual.
Must have a passion for the turf industry with a strong desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent.
Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in Turf Maintenance.
Must be willing to take directions and provide clear and concise directions to staff.
Must possess the ability to coordinate and complete tasks with little to no supervision.
Must be able to assist in scheduling, evaluating staff performance, and upholding safety standards.
Must be a self-starter and eager to learn.
Must be able to recognize and solve problems.
Must maintain high performance standards.
Compensation:
$19 per hour.
