The Asphalt Plant Manager will oversee the operations, production, and management of four asphalt plants located in Miami, Fort Myers, West Palm Beach, and Vero Beach. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production, maintaining high-quality standards, optimizing plant performance, and leading a team of plant managers and employees. The director will be a key player in strategic planning, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive profitability and growth.

Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily asphalt plant operations, production scheduling, and quality control.
  • Ensure consistent mix production to meet DOT and project specifications.
  • Monitor plant performance, fuel efficiency, and production rates.

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Lead preventive and corrective maintenance planning for drums, baghouses, conveyors, and silos.
  • Coordinate major shutdowns and repairs, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, repairs, and spare parts inventory.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company and OSHA safety standards at all times.
  • Ensure environmental compliance with local and state agencies (emissions, stormwater, fuel storage).
  • Conduct safety meetings and maintain required documentation.

Quality Control & Coordination

  • Work closely with QC personnel to ensure mix consistency and testing compliance.
  • Manage plant calibration, materials handling, and mix design adjustments.
  • Collaborate with operations and project teams on production planning.

Leadership & Administration

  • Supervise, train, and develop plant personnel to ensure efficient operations.
  • Manage budgeting, vendor relationships, and procurement of parts and services.
  • Provide weekly operational and performance reports to management.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in asphalt plant operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple plant locations.
  • Strong background in production management, quality control, and financial oversight.

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in using plant management software and tools.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

Certifications:

  • Relevant industry certifications are a plus (e.g., Asphalt Plant Level II, OSHA Safety Certification).

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent travel to Miami, Fort Myers, West Palm Beach, and Vero Beach.
  • Work may involve exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and materials.
  • Requires flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed.
